Trust. It’s that magical ingredient that turns a good team into a great one. As a CS Leader, you are the conductor of an orchestra, and TRUST is the harmony that makes your players shine.

Let's be real, building trust isn't about fancy titles or corner offices. It's about being the kind of person people want to follow. It's about showing up, being consistent, and meaning what you say.

Here’s how you can start:
  • Be real, be open: Share what you know, what you don’t, and what you're working on. People appreciate honesty.

  • Keep your promises: Nothing breaks trust faster than broken promises. Under-promise and over-deliver. It’s an old-school rule, but a golden one.

  • Lead by example: Actions speak louder than words. If you want a team of go-getters, be one yourself.

  • Show you care: People want to feel valued. A little empathy goes a long way.

  • Be consistent: Don't be a flip-flopper. People need to know what to expect from you.

How do you build Trust with Your Gen Z Team?

Gen Z is smart, they're quick, and they crave authenticity. Here’s how you can connect with them:

  • Play-work Balance: Virtual escape rooms, Go-Karting or even Table-tennis? Let's do it! Make work fun.

  • Keep it real: Share some behind-the-scenes stuff. They appreciate the honesty.

  • Mentor up: Let your team teach you something new. It shows you value their input.

  • Coffee chats: One-on-ones are gold. Get to know your team on a personal level.

  • Social media magic: Use platforms they love to connect and collaborate.

Building Trust with Other Department Leaders

Let's face it, cross-functional collaboration can be a minefield. Here's how to defuse it:

  • Walk in their shoes: Understand their world. Attend their meetings, see their challenges firsthand.

  • Show 'em the money (or at least the impact): Prove that customer success drives the business. Numbers talk.

  • Be their go-to person: Deliver on time, every time. Be reliable.

  • Be open to feedback: Two-way streets are the best kind.

  • Find common ground: Work together on shared goals. A united front is powerful.

Remember, trust is like a garden. It needs constant care and attention. Plant the seeds, water it regularly, and watch it grow into a thriving ecosystem.
